Celestial Shores

There you were beneath my telescope-
the celestial shores of you.
Whole reaches of you-
undiscovered;

though the pull of your gravity
was anything but distant.

The sun flickered like freckles,
blinking themselves
into existence.

Let me connect the dots
and chart what remains
before we drift too far apart.

I was built for polarities but not like this;
for places where everything
either freezes or burns.
Molten cores and frozen edges.

As long as there’s space for mystery.

They say there are places
even light cannot reveal

and where nothing we know
can reach

But if I cannot measure
the distance between us,
what else should I call you
but love?
