Cosmic Reflections

I am not quite the self
who you've always known
having seen many worlds
and having been many things
the universe knows me well

I've been the unspoken weight
of coldness
settling
under your rib cage

I’ve wandered
through the veins
of erupting volcanos
a fissure
with escaping marrow

I’ve been spat out
from rocket ships
like particles
fragments
of me sprinkled
across the horizon

I have fed on the silence
that stretches
between the changing
of seasons
summer yielding to fall

I've been water
etching across stone
and the dip
in the cheekbone
that holds it

I've been the shimmer
on a peacocks feather
that flickers in the sun
too quickly
to ever be touched

though I've experienced
many life times
I am merely like the stars
falling back to earth

remembering
what it means
to live
without interruption.
