What is Mold-A-Rama?

Mold-A-Rama machines are coinoperated devices that create small plastic souvenirs on demand. First appearing in the mid-20th century, they were popular in zoos, museums, and tourist spots, letting visitors watch a figurine form and take it home warm from the mold.

Brief History

These machines grew from industrial molding technology adapted for public use. Over time, they became nostalgic icons; remembered for their bright colors, clunky noises, and the still-warm plastic figures they produced.

How It Works

1. Warm up
Plastic pellets are heated until molten.
2. Inject
Molten plastic is injected into a mold cavity.
3. Cool & Open
The mold cools, then opens to reveal the figurine.
4. Trim & Collect
Excess plastic is trimmed and the piece handed over.
