Unfrozen Reverie
I. Earth has surrendered her leaves
for snow
bodies of water suspended
by ice
and the tempo
of celestial bodies
has begun to slow.
II. Coldness beckons from the earth
yet there are flowers blooming
in the snow
their roots tethered to my heart
and I sway
revealing the lost hues spurned
by the trees huddled
beneath their white canopies.
III. Caught in the grip
of Winter’s frost
then unfurled
from this leaf-like state
stillness-
a quiet reminder
that I too exist
if only to advance
unfrozen.
