Unfrozen Reverie

I. Earth has surrendered her leaves
for snow
bodies of water suspended
by ice
and the rhythm
of celestial bodies
has begun to slow.

II. Coldness blankets the earth
yet there are flowers blooming
in the snow
their roots
tethered to my heart
and I sway
revealing the colors forgotten
by the bushes huddled
beneath their white canopies.

III. Held in the grip
of Winter’s frost
unfurled
from this leaf-like state
a quiet reminder
that I too exist
if only
to be caught
in the illusion
of stillness.
