The Mezzo Void

Mission

My goal is to spend more time creating and less time consuming. It's all too easy to get suckered into the vacuum of "passive consumption," where you're not interacting with what you're absorbing; falling into a type of mindlessness is all too easy. Having an awareness of this tendency allows us to take steps toward more meaningful engagement.

Let's face it! There are many things competing for our attention these days, from what's trending on Twitter to the local news, but if you're worried about what someone else is doing, you/we spend less time engineering the cultural landscape. This means that we risk missing opportunities that may lead to the innovation of our own projects.

By active participation, we, as webmasters, volunteer ourselves into intentionality. We end up helping to shape our digital biosphere, fostering a more dynamic, diverse space. We add to the web revival's beautification efforts, making a binding impact. Through our contributions, we create a richer tapestry of online experiences that benefits society, at large.

Needless to say, it's important to keep honing our craft, despite the ways in which society threatens to swallow us whole. If we don't, we risk abandoning communities like Neocities, which gives us a platform to contribute to in a substantive way. Nurturing spaces like these lead to collaborative creativity and ensure the continuity of our digital heritage.
