The Mezzo Void
About Me
As a young adult, I spent time coding web pages with html, css and javascript; during the golden age of the internet. The open frontier of owning a home computer was explored and there was an interest in learning about what it could be used to create, and the thrill led me into content creation. Alongside my coding interests, I was excited about learning digital art and writing, which fostered my love for self-expression but still there was an urge to do more. Ironically, my academic journal took the forefront when I pursued an M.A. in mass media. This experience honed my research skills and gave me a knack for understanding people in compelling circumstances, enriching my perspective on storytelling and communication.
Through these experiences, I've cultivated an interdisciplinary skill set that supports my ongoing journey of exploration and enterprise management. I believe in the power of introspection and engagement, which allows me to connect with the projects and people I encounter.
I encourage you to get to know me through my website and the materials presented here, rather than relying solely on my identity or identities. Oftentimes when people know your identity politic; they use it to justify your perspectives but that's not what I had in mind. Instead, you can gather everything you need to know about me; from my journal entries. This includes how every day experiences, such as eating ice cream; frame my world view.
Feel free to have a look around, since there is something magical about my body of work being reviewed. A story is waiting to be revealed, in each crevice of this site; inviting you to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery. Each piece responds to a unique moment in time, inviting you into my space. Hopefully there is a spark of commonality and you'll find some experiences that resonate with your own.
About this Site
I’m a believer that a content oriented site shouldn’t sacrifice design, since aesthetics are important. What you see in the backdrop are blobs created with css and a little js that allows you to change their parameters on the home page; offering a dynamic experience. Technical and creative skills come together; presenting material that is both thoughtful and engaging. As a result, you'll notice that there is always something new to discover.
Philosophy
If there isn't joy in the process, then maybe you should consider stepping away from whatever it is; which is exactly what I find myself doing when I've hit a snag. Being a web curator should bring us a certain joy and meaningfulness in knowing that we are, in fact, contributing to the revival of the web. When we create with passion, there is a reverberation that is felt throughout the community; making it one worth belonging to.
In a world increasingly driven by markets and revenue, the web curators still exist. We volunteer our skills, offer each other support and promote the spirit of collaboration throughout our communities. We maintain websites and offer a selfless service that promotes shared knowledge. Assests are pooled to uplift virtual societies, which we belong to; reinforcing the power of informed spaces.
Content Overview
While most areas of this site are finished, the journal remains an ongoing project; since it’s my goal to keep exploring the lines of fruitful inquiry. As a result, I’ll probably always be adding to it: as inspiration hits and as new experiences unravel. My artwork captures impressions that will encourage your imagination to soar; inviting you to consider the emotions, which each piece conveys. My zines will eventually offer a new lens through which you can view me. The writings will inspire you to feel the weight of my thoughts, to find pieces of yourself within it and to explore in ways, which my journal may not permit. Nevertheless, I’m always evolving; which means this portfolio will continue to be a product of my inner dialogue.
