Bisha Underground

cave

This handmade, personal digital garden blends art, literature, and coding into a cohesive project that celebrates both the playful and the profound. The goal is for those who visit to have a thoughtful, immersive and engaging experience that makes them feel, think or react.

There are reflections and story telling, which will keep you busy for a bit but some of these cultural curiosities like the manifesto, bookshelf, projects, shrines zines and mutuals have moved in with the legacy pages. Other pages you just might enjoy include: layouts, lab and 128 bit art.

About the Webmistress

I’m a web curator with an M.A. in mass media who supports active participation. My goal is to turn browsing into an active experience where people join me on a shared journey rather than passively scroll without thought. You can read my mission here.

When I'm not busy nurturing this site, I enjoy museums, industrial art nd soaking up everyday experiences. I enjoy finding humor in the little ironies of life that might otherwise make me scream, such as careful planning; until something derails it.

Some of my hobbies include: chess, documentaries, cooking, and painting, including miniatures (yes! with the magnifying glass and everything). I'm passionate about citizen science, wellness and stepping into my highest self despite setbacks.

You can chat me up on Discord: bishatran

Fine Art

My artwork spans across a variety of mediums including polychromes pencils, gouache, watercolor, cray pas, oil pastels and the use of a drawing tablet like the Huion. The style that most defines my bedside manner; as an artist is deeply rooted in abstract impressionism, which is often celebrated for its expressive brushwork, vibrant colors, and layered textures. I'm continually drawn to exploring complex moods by transcending literal representation, tracking therapeutic nuances to facilitate expression and exploring subjectivity in a sensory oriented world. I'm able to convey emotions that might otherwise allude us in the pursuit of perfection. Needless to say, each piece becomes a story unfolding that the viewer bears witness to.

024- Attitude is All

It's good to try and be rooted in something deeper so that when shit hits the fan (SHTF); we’re not left completely scrambling to make sense of it all. Life is not exactly, as I had imagined it these days and things might be this way longer than I imagine. As a result, I find myself searching for ways to take back some power. Even if I can do small things like make my bed in the morning, I’ve met a goal and am beginning to think of it as a small victory that counts for something but sometimes the struggle you have isn’t always the struggle you want. What this means is that...

003- The Tyranny of Other People's Recommended Reads

I've sometimes found myself browsing through other people’s recommended reads on their web pages. While this is usually fascinating because we get to peek into someone’s brain and track the subtle nuances that reveal who they are; it can also...

025- Privacy is its Own Currency

In an age where so many people are occupying youtube with videos of themselves; privacy seems like a luxury but it's not. Being able to go out on a bad hair day without trending, walk into a store without being recognized and enjoying the simple practice of living without judgment isn't optional. Many of us require this to feel as if we exist independently; as if we're human, our own and unhinged to our surroundings...

029- The AI Talk

In light of the anti AI campaign brewing around Neocities, a fellow neocitizen asked me what my thoughts were regarding the topic. Some people like it, some people hate it and some of us are sitting on the fence but her question reminded me of an initiative I ran across that finds the middle ground between man and machine. The site is called Brain Made and

030- Number Fields@home

Since there wasn't work available for any of my usual citizen science computing projects like Rosetta@home, Ramanujan Machine, and World Community Grid, I decided to try contributing elsewhere through BOINC. Letting my system sit idle felt like a waste, so I randomly picked up a work unit from NumberFields@home. It contributes to number theory research including: improvements to algorithms like integer factorization, discrete logarithms and primality testing...
